Late today we confirmed that I'll be a guest this Wednesday night on what is undoubtedly the best classic country music radio show in the nation, hosted by Eddie Stubbs on WSM. It's a great honor to be invited, and all along for the past five or six years Eddie has been remarkably supportive of my mission to get the history of our favorite radio station researched and written. It might never have happened without his validation of the project and his introductions to the many country music veterans who helped me flesh out the story. There may be nobody on earth who knows more about the history of country and bluegrass than Eddie, but he never tries to show you up. On Wednesday, we'll talk about how WSM got started and then got powerful, how it shaped Nashville and country music. How it played midwife and OB-GYN to bluegrass. How it trained Nashville's greatest producers, musicians and publishers. We'll play some classic air-checks from WSM's past, country and non-country. You can listen live at www.wsmonline.com.
